Q. Is this loss in value down to the repair of my vehicle being of a poor standard?

A. Certainly not! This loss arises even though your motor vehicle has been repaired to an excellent standard. It is down to the fact that your motor car has been in an accident that your vehicle may have lost value.

Q. I have been told that I can not make a claim because my vehicle is not a prestigious vehicle. Is this true?

A. No. There is case law that states that diminution can apply to any type of vehicle. Each claim is down to its own individual merits.

Q. Can I claim for this loss through my insurance company?

A. No. Insurance companies usually exclude this type of claim from your policy, even if you are fully comprehensively insured.

A. You are perfectly entitled to make a claim for the loss in value of your motor vehicle and this is your right under English law. How would you feel when you sell your car and are told that it is not worth as much due to the accident?
